Portfolio Drawing Test

I was going to post my portfolio for a couple of months now, but having a broken camera and a tendency to procrastinate kind of delayed my plans. Now that I have a new camera, and I have to re-start my work ethic, I'm going to post my accepted Sheridan Illustration portfolio up half today, and the other half whenever I photograph all my pieces :P

Overall I got a 78/ 100 score on my portfolio which though is not the greatest, it's a solid score that will get you into the program. The minimum score to get in this year was 55/ 100, but the minimum really depends on the people applying and in general how good their work is. One year the portfolio minimum was a 66/ 100.

For the drawing test each piece was marked out of 10, and I'll post my mark for each picture. Probably my drawing test was the best part of my portfolio.

Just a note with the figures, for the two people who have censors over their eyes, I just didn't want them to see my blog and be like 'I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU PUT THIS UP ARGHHHH' because they both didn't like those pictures :'D

And I'm pretty sure I lost marks on my objects because my 'change' was not that creative. yeahh

Hopefully this helps some people needing portfolio examples! I found very few portfolio examples when I was doing mine and it wasn't fun. Portfolio Pieces: Bag and Piano

Couple of portfolio pics that I haven't bothered uploading (I have more but I need to take pictures of them)

A piano from the early 1900s that we got from a family friend. It's an absolutely gorgeous piano with really intricate detailing on it and the wood colour is so beautiful. I really do love it, but sadly no one in my family can play anything more that Doe-a-Deer. 

Now it's furniture.

I should take some lessons one day, maybe move some stuff... e_e

Sheridan wants a picture of "everyday objects". I'm pretty sure they interpreted this as fruits and that which you paint like a master, BUT I CHOSE SOMETHING DIFFERENT (go me).

I decided to draw my everyday objects, such as my handy-dandy sketchbook, my wallet, and iPod. My phone's squished in there too but it's not that important. Also a Scott Pilgrim comic was there (SCOTT PILGRIM YESSSSS -superfangirl-)

I messed up on the strap though, one part's supposed to be longer and then there would be more room for the headphone chords and ahh it was a mess v_v I'm not going back (plus I had to return Scott Pilgrim to the library ;n;)

Again, I apologize for the terrible image quality. My camera's really starting to kick the bucket.

Portfolio Piece: Hands

I can't say anything particularly deep/ interesting (do I usually?) about this piece, as it's just something Sheridan wants to see. I am actually really pleased with how these turned out, especially when my hands are not my strong point. Feet are just so much easier to draw :P

These were still a bitch to draw, it took 4 hours just to get the lines down v_v. During those four lovely hours my hand moved way too much and my mom spilled her tea which almost got onto the picture but did manage to ruin my pose. It was terrible.

But it's over now so I'm happy xD
