Moving!

To tumblr! Sorry guys, it was bound to happen.

I'm still leaving all my old posts here and if there's anyone who has portfolio questions (when that time rolls around) don't be afraid to send me a note on dA or a tumblr ask :)

Shitay Metaphors

2nd year Core Concepts class was 50% narrative illustration and 50% metaphorical illustration. I'm much better at narrative... and rather mediocre at metaphor. It's a really big learning curve, and really important to know for sure, but not that enjoyable (for me at least).

Based on "work & play"

A mock editorial illustration talking about Emotional intelligence and the 5 different areas of it

After Effects AKA I'm not an animator

My final 'animation' for my Electronic Media class. I am a terrible animator and anyone who can makes things move well by drawings gets 100% of my respect. It's a totally different way of thinking.

Despite that I had a lot of fun putting the whole thing together, After Effects is a really neat program.
(Didn't have fun animating though fyi)

And here's the cat (created in Illustrator and photoshop). I really like the cat. Actually the 3D stuff in Illustrator is nifty when you use it to create stupid characters.

3D School Stuff

First 2013 post one month in hell ya! I've been doing art just haven't posted too much :S

So far in electronic media we've been exploring 3D effects whether that's an illusion of space or physical depth (is that how you'd phrase it?). I like how school is slowly morphing into what I want to do versus last year where I felt like I had to do something completely different? It's more fun right now :P

First project is old school 3D.

Get your glasses (if you have any, I didn't and I winged it).

Illustrator 3D featuring me! And my future orange dog.
Beauty.

The initial concept. Also a beauty.

Sketchbook

School's finally out meaning relaxation and lots of sketching to do. I was really lucky this semester to have two especially inspirational teachers who really made me push my work and my technique.

Also this break I want to do Sachin Teng's 30 day drawing challenge which will take me more than 30 days guaranteed but ah well.

The Royal Winter Fair 2012

I made the cow look like a dog.

This was my second time drawing at the Royal Winter Fair and it was so much fun! I love these sketchbook excursions, they're loose and experimental plus hanging around with friends is nice too. It's also nice looking back on the sketches I did last year and realizing I've improved tons. I hope we go next year too *u*
I think I sketched less this year, and we didn't see any horses ;_; I wanted to see them so bad! They're faces are just the cutest and their noses are soft and they're muscular and just fabulous creatures.
FABULOUS CREATURES.
But oh man I did some serious communing today, these three goats came up to me and just stayed there while I pet them for a good half hour! They just stood there and it was just dddgggfsss cute QuQ And this one sheep! It came up to me and just stood there while I petted it (pet? petted?)
I love animals. So much.

Sketchbook

My scanner refused to make the pink neon. Like... would not even try. It completely flattened and dulled the colour so I had to do some major photoshopping to get the eye-burning intensity that the gouache truly possesses.
Truly a fabulous colour!

And a shout-out to Josh since he reads my blog (hi Josh!)

Siskiyou

For my electronic media course we had to contact a "indie" band and create three promotional pieces for them using only three pantone colours. I really enjoyed the project, probably because I just did whatever I wanted haha! The QR codes work too, one will send you to their website and the other will let you download a song for free!
(There are only 2 QR codes,  I just repeated them)

Though they did seem a lot cooler a month ago :|

The Greatest of Self Portraits

I am such a great artist, you guys are all just jelly!

jks naw I'm far from that. I'm kind of worried about stagnation, I feel like my sketchbook is a huge comfort zone and it's really fun but it's all the same. I need to explore concepts and media and really challenge myself. Keep on getting better, do more!

And there was a grammar mistake on my last post, and I apologize. Not as cool as I was hoping to be now am I!

Sketchbook

1 1/2 hour studies. I suck at portraits.

Late night doodles which I may or may not regret.

Sketchbook

One day I drew my bag.

The same day I drew a clydesdale at school (how cool!)

Then today I drew a whole bunch of stuff and idk what happened.

Boo

I need to go to extra life more.
And paint more.
And go outside and draw.
I'm such a slacker, what am I even doing?

Decorative

Morning View
Gouache
8" x 8"

My decorative piece for school that had to be based on one (or more) of the four elements. I know it's not super decorative like Mucha's work (I can't do that level of detail; I honestly don't know how he could) but I wanted to take my own approach to decorative instead of being highly inspired by somebody else.

I really enjoyed working on this picture more than the final outcome. I could have pushed the patterns, it looks really simple still and I made a couple of weird colour decisions (the top of the mountains, that was a bad choice). But it was my first time doing a picture in gouache and after hearing my profs say how hard the medium is I feel pretty proud haha! It was hard to deal with, this picture probably took me way longer than it should have because I used gouache and not acrylic.

But it's cool now, we're cool.

What really helped me beside the b + w copy was doing a colour rough in photoshop. The colours are more united in photoshop (which sucks that I didn't pay more attention to what I was mixing, I should have limited my palette and stuck with the colours I started out with) but it really stopped me from worrying about what colours I needed to mix. It was like, "I need this colour, okay, I'll mix it!"

Next week I'll have my electronic media project done and I'm really excited to post it *u* It looks pretty sweet so far  >u<

Outfit 19

Today I found out 2 very important things:

1. I can't lie.
2. I can't dance.

I also learned my sense of fashion is odd and not according to the weather.
