Portfolio Drawing Test

I was going to post my portfolio for a couple of months now, but having a broken camera and a tendency to procrastinate kind of delayed my plans. Now that I have a new camera, and I have to re-start my work ethic, I'm going to post my accepted Sheridan Illustration portfolio up half today, and the other half whenever I photograph all my pieces :P

Overall I got a 78/ 100 score on my portfolio which though is not the greatest, it's a solid score that will get you into the program. The minimum score to get in this year was 55/ 100, but the minimum really depends on the people applying and in general how good their work is. One year the portfolio minimum was a 66/ 100.

For the drawing test each piece was marked out of 10, and I'll post my mark for each picture. Probably my drawing test was the best part of my portfolio.

Figure Sitting

Figure Standing

Figure doing an everyday activity

Figures - 9/ 10

Pen drawing with a figure in a room, creating a mood/ atmosphere. NO PENCIL.
9/ 10

Looking through a window, shows perspective and understanding or foreground, middle-ground and background.
8/10

Cube, sphere and cylinder objects before.

Cube, sphere and cylinder objects after a change.

Objects - 7/ 10

Just a note with the figures, for the two people who have censors over their eyes, I just didn't want them to see my blog and be like 'I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU PUT THIS UP ARGHHHH' because they both didn't like those pictures :'D
And I'm pretty sure I lost marks on my objects because my 'change' was not that creative. yeahh

Hopefully this helps some people needing portfolio examples! I found very few portfolio examples when I was doing mine and it wasn't fun. If anybody has any questions then contact me at Lynn.Illustration@gmail.com, or send me a note on deviantart or tumblr. Don't know how helpful I'll be, but I'll try my best :)
Best of Luck guys!

Square Foot Show pt.1

 Pretty for Pretty's Sake
12" x 12"
Acrylic + Embroidery thread
07/27/11

So I'm a real cool kid and I didn't spell Pretties right, but you know what, idc. Maybe we can make a whole bs meaning for the picture using my glorious error and I'll end up looking like an intelligent and witty individual.

But in all honesty this has no meaning whatsoever :| I just wanted to draw a pretty tiger because I have no artistic drive /sob. And I bought an expensive thing of gold paint and I wasn't just going to let it sit on my shelf without being used >:|

Details:

Little embroidered cheeks!

Metallicy goodness which SHINES IN THE SUN/ MOON/ DINING ROOM LIGHT

If anyone is in the GTA (or even better downtown Toronto), come visit the Square Foot Show at Twist Gallery, 1100 Queen Street W. The opening night is August 6th at 7pm and  I'll hopefully be there too!

Square Foot Show!

It's been awhile since I last updated this blog! Sadly I can't give an expectable excuse such as 'I've been working too much to post' or 'life's been so busy!'
Rather it's more there's some family issues that are slowly bothering me and I have an intense art block.

But I entered into the Square Foot Show at AWOL Galleries so tomorrow, after I get home from dropping everything off, I'll make another post with more pictures and what not explaining that I'm artistically alive (barely) :D!

Look Behind You

I haven't updated this blog in at least a month, and I'll probably only be updating it periodically. I have another piece to post after this one though so that's pretty exciting c;

Look Behind you
20" x 16"
Embroidery on water colour paper (I'm assuming that's the paper anyways :S)

For my grade 12 art show, every student is supposed to come up with a theme (but it's pretty much a thesis) and we have to create four pieces of work based on that theme. My theme is the idea of 'Overboard Imaginations', where our mind often blows silly things way out of proportion.
Look Behind You is about the irrational idea that there could be something with you in the dark. You're in bed, trying to go to sleep, and you just can't help but think there's something with you in the room. It's stupid, it's irrational, but it's there.

100% hand embroidered and took me fucking AGES. Swear to god I will never embroider something like this.
ever >:I
And I procrastinated and left it until the last minute (bad decision). Which equaled me doing embroidery for four solid days.
4 DAYS MAN.
But I'm glad it's all over @_@

Face Doodle

Printer ran out of ink, which equals scanner out of commission.
Until I buy more ink
:|

Thinking about taking a hiatus from dA, or rather making the hiatus official. I've been neglecting the internet in general :I
But oh well, I'll just keep on drawing faces until then.
 Hohum~

PS. Go see the movie Hanna if you can, it's beautiful! The fight scenes were omg amazing 9o9!

Silly Self + Doodles

Feeling all sick and blah :c

WHAT IS GREEN/ PURPLE/ COLOURS OTHER THAN RED, CREAM, BLUE AND ORANGE?????
Ya so you know you're desperate when you upload any crap laying around your comp :'c and I need to use some different colours because everything is starting to look the same.
My mom took the camera with her to China and won't be back for two weeks so NO PORTFOLIO PICS TILL THEN ahahaha/ stupid. But I'll scan in some sketchbook stuff tomorrow!

The figure drawing stuff was not timed and ref'd from Senshistock @dA btw |"D

Blah + Acceptance

Got into Sheridan for illustration ;o;! I accepted the offer and now all I need to do is pay fees and whatnot :'D I'm hoping I made the right choice by not going to OCADU, but the idea of commuting downtown everyday and the first year general design program really turns me off e_e I'm just worried that I won't be able to paint/ draw fast enough, or well enough, when I actually start the program (I always have to worry about something :I ), but that just means I have to practice so |"D
LOTS OF WORK HIS SUMMER HUTCHA

I'll try and post my full portfolio sometime next week for anyone next year who needs a bit of help (though my score wasn't mind-blowing :P)

In other news I'm feeling feeling incredibly blah

Like blah for art
I need to change something up because I'm just using the same colours + subject matter for everything 9_9
So yeah, update to say I'm still doing stuff. Maybe I'll do a bit of a sketch book dump near the end of this week (need to work more in it haha)
